Enhancing Health Financing through Tobacco Taxation

The burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Zambia is on the rise, with 29% of all deaths attributable to NCDs. Given that NCDs are lifestyle diseases, this is a significantly high proportion, particularly since most of these diseases can be reduced by attending to the four main behavioral risk factors for NCDs which are tobacco use, harmful use of alcohol, unhealthy diets, and physical inactivity.
