
The Centre for Trade Policy Research Team led by CTPD Executive Director Mr Isaac Mwaipopo this morning appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on National Economy , Trade and Labour Matters via ZOOM. Mr Mwaipopo made a presentation on “ The Ratification of the African Union Continental Free Trade Agreement”The Team recommended the following; AfCFTA can change the structure of Zambia’s economy which is currently less diversified and is commodity driven. The bloc can accelerate growth, and attract FDI Unleash the entrepreneurship potential of youths and women (e.g., cross border trade including informal), improving their incomes and driving inclusive growth. Zambia’s raw materials remain susceptible to global volatilities. The AfCFTA can drive stability.
